Maruti Suzuki Sales FY 2025-26 vs FY 2024-25 – What Changed and What Didn't

Posted by Ravi · May 6, 2026 · 5 min read

So Maruti Suzuki just dropped their full-year sales numbers for FY 2025-26, and honestly, the numbers are pretty interesting. I went through the whole table and thought, why not break it down in simple language, because most of the news articles just throw numbers at you without really explaining what it means.

So let's get into it.

Overall Numbers First

Maruti sold a total of 24,22,713 units in FY26. Last year (FY25), that number was 22,34,266 units. So roughly 1.88 lakh more cars sold this year. That's around 8.4% growth, which is honestly decent considering the overall market conditions.

Total Sales: FY26 → 24,22,713 units  |  FY25 → 22,34,266 units  |  Growth: ~8.4%

Mini Segment (Alto and S-Presso) – Not Looking Good

The mini segment includes Alto and S-Presso. These are Maruti's most affordable cars. But the numbers here are going down. In FY26, they sold 1,12,291 units compared to 1,25,770 units in FY25. That's a drop of about 10,000+ units.

Honestly, I think people are now stretching their budget a little more and buying compact cars instead of entry-level ones. Also, the used car market is very strong right now, so first-time buyers are probably going that route.

Compact Segment – The Real Hero

This is where Maruti makes the most money in terms of volume. Swift, Baleno, WagonR, Dzire, Celerio, Ignis – all of these fall here. Combined, they sold 8,08,102 units in FY26 vs 7,70,737 in FY25. So roughly 37,000 more units sold this year.

The new Swift looks really nice, and I think that helped a lot. Dzire is also a very popular cab model, so that keeps its numbers stable throughout the year.

Ciaz – Basically Dead Now

Okay, this one is a bit sad if you're a sedan person. The Ciaz sold just 1,980 units the whole year. Last year it was 8,402. That's a 76% drop in just one year. I mean, at this point, it feels like Maruti is not even trying to sell it anymore. No new variants, no marketing push, nothing.

SUVs have basically killed the mid-size sedan market in India, and Ciaz is the biggest victim of that trend right now.

Utility Vehicles – Growing Every Year

Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Fronx, Jimny, Invicto, XL6,Victoris, and now even the e-Vitara. This segment went from 7,20,186 in FY25 to 7,60,987 in FY26. Around 40,000 units of growth.

Fronx is doing really well from what I've seen. Grand Vitara also has good hybrid demand. The Jimny is a niche product, but it has a loyal fanbase. Overall, this segment is where the future of Maruti lies, honestly.

Eeco and Super Carry – Steady as Always

The Eeco van is that one product everyone forgets about, but it just keeps selling. 1,39,769 units this year vs 1,35,672 last year. Small businesses, school vans, ambulances – the Eeco serves all of these. Very stable demand.

Super Carry (the mini truck thing) also grew from 34,492 to 38,575 units. That's about 11.8% growth. Logistics and delivery businesses are growing fast, so this makes sense.

Exports – Biggest Surprise of the Year

This is the one number that really surprised me. Maruti exported 4,47,774 units in FY26 compared to just 3,32,585 in FY25. That is a 34.6% jump in exports in just one year. That's huge.

Maruti is clearly pushing hard into African and Middle Eastern markets. Makes sense because their cars are affordable and reliable, which is exactly what buyers in those regions look for.

My Quick Take

Overall, FY26 was a good year for Maruti. The total number is the highest ever. Exports are booming. SUVs are growing. But the entry-level segment is shrinking, and sedans are almost gone. If you're thinking about buying a Maruti right now, the compact and UV segment is clearly where they are putting all their focus and attention.

Anyway, that's my read on the data. Let me know in the comments if you see something different or if I missed anything!

Note - Data taken from Maruti Suzuki's official sales dispatch table for FY 2025-26. All units are wholesale dispatches to dealers. "Lakh" = 1,00,000 units.
